Final touch
I’m putting the finishing touches on a batch of 10 dolls. They are for a children-and babyshop nearby. I promised they’d be ready in february, luckily I have one extra day this year.
At the same time I made a whole serie of photos how I did the yarn hair. Come back soon for a tutorial about yarn hair!!
Binnen een paar uurtjes zijn ze klaar: 10 poppen voor een baby-en kinderwinkel in de buurt. Ik had beloofd ze in februari klaar te hebben, gelukkig heb ik dit jaar een dag extra..

This is what happens when you don’t have separate craftroom and when you have to work at the table where any toddler with crayons in his hand can reach your dolls in progress…
Dit gebeurt er als je geen aparte werkkamer hebt en ‘peuters-met-stiften’ al te creatief willen zijn…
Luckily my parents brought us today this old play-shop. They made it 30 years ago when we were kids, and now my children are sooo very happy with it. They sold and bought all afternoon!
Gelukkig maakten mijn ouders de dag weer goed. Ze brachten dit oud speelwinkeltje, dat ze 30 jaar geleden voor ons gemaakt hadden. Alles is nog intact, er is zelfs geen extra verflaag nodig. En alle fruit, groenten en droogwaren zijn zelfs na 30jaar nog bewaard gebleven! Er werd de hele namiddag gekocht en verkocht!
Family car
Once again about our family car… This time about our REAL family car. We have a car with 7 seats. Usually I am the one driving around our 4 children. So that means : 6 places for 4 kids. Unfortunately that also means : fighting for a seat. I am so tired of all those fights and all that yelling, not to mention all those discussions and negotiations. But I’ve come up with a little plan to put a stop to all of this. Every child got to choose his or her own seat. They also got to choose a drawing and a colour. And after that, no more choosing anymore. I will make every child a label with his/her name embroidered on it, which I will sew on the proper seat!! Ha, done with fighting and yelling, over with those discussions and negotiations!!! Forced to take the same seat every time we take a drive!!
Opnieuw over onze familiewagen, deze keer over onze échte familiewagen, met 7 zitplaatsen. Meestal ben ik het die met de kinderen rondtoer. Dat betekent: 6 plaatsen voor 4 kinderen. Dat betekent echter ook: vechten voor een plaats. En dus heb ik een plan om daar iets aan te doen. Elk kind mocht een plaats uitkiezen in de auto. Ze mochten ook een prentje en een kleur kiezen. En daarna geen vrije keuzes meer: ik maak ze elk een label met hun naam erop geborduurd en naai dat vast op hun eigen plaats!! Ha, gedaan met vechten en roepen, discussies en onderhandelingen. Verplicht om altijd op dezelfde plaats te zitten!!
Working weekend
A tractor is like a family car. There is room in it for all six of us! 2 kids in the back and each one of us a child on his lap. (I am not on this picture, I’m behind the camera)
Onze traktor = onze familiewagen, plaats genoeg voor alle zes: 2 grote kinderen achteraan, en elk een kind op onze schoot.
We drove around worked like this for like 15 minutes.
Zo reden we rond op het veld, euh sorry, werkten we op het veld…
But then the little ones got tired of sitting still and started pushing every button they could reach.
Na 15 minuten hadden de kleintjes er al genoeg van. Ze begonnen op alle knoppen te duwen en aan hendels te trekken.
And then the fun was over, someone (I’m not pointing a finger at anyone, I only have this evidence on the pictures) pushed a wrong button, the tractor came to a stop and all the girls had to step out.
En toen was het plezierritje over. Iemand (ik zeg niet wie, maar ik heb bewijsmateriaal) duwde op een foute knop en de traktor kwam tot stilstand. Alle meisjes moesten uitstappen..
Only boys allowed for the rest of the ride.
The girls and I went back home by bike, that’s like a family car too, room enough for 4 on one bike (one on the back of my bike and 2 in the trailer). Phew, I was glad we came home before dark!
Enkel jongens mochten in de traktor blijven.
Ik heb de meisjes dan maar op mijn fiets mee terug naar huis genomen. Dat is ook een soort familiewagen. Eentje achterop en twee in de fietskar, en na een hobbelige rit over veldwegen was ik uitgeput blij dat we thuis waren…
